
Quebec Centraide offices
There are 119 Centraide and United Way offices in Canada, including 18 Centraide branches in Quebec. They all operate independently across their respective regions, and they are managed by boards of directors that are representative of their communities. The origins of Centraide Outaouais

1943 :

Creation and first campaign of the Fédération des Oeuvres de charité de Hull, which was the starting point for Centraide in the Outaouais. The first fundraising campaign brought in a total of $17,389, which was redistributed to eight agencies.

Annual campaign with “Plume rouge” (Red Feather) as its theme.

1956 :

Surrounding municipalities of Hull, Gatineau, Pointe-Gatineau, Deschènes, Aylmer, Buckingham and Masson join campaign.

Launch of Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC) through payroll deductions.

1975 :

The name “Centraide” is used for the first time in Quebec.

Fédération des oeuvres de charité de Hull becomes Centraide du district de Hull.

1980 :

Centraide du district de Hull becomes Centraide de l’Ouest québécois and extends its coverage to Pontiac and Petite-Nation.

Centraide de l’Ouest québécois collects its first million dollars.
